Small Business Server

Wanwise has implemented, and is actively monitoring/supporting a number of SBS2003, SBS2008 and SBS2011 server installations for our clients. A Small Business Server enables SMEs to take advantage of IT features that are normally associated with larger companies, all in a single integrated server platform. We would be happy to meet potential clients, discussing your business needs and how a small business server could help you to achieve your strategic business goals.

If your business is already using a Small Business Server 2003 solution, is it now time to upgrade and migrate to the latest version and take advantage of the improved features and benefits? A version comparison chart can be downloaded here

When a client selects Wanwise to technically project-manage a new SBS2011 installation, we are able to perform the following setup / configuration activities on the SBS server as standard:

  1. specification and procurement of the Small Business Server server itself (optional)

  2. assign a dedicated active directory domain for the company network

  3. patch the server software to the latest Microsoft updates and security service packs

  4. client workstation access to the server (both local and from remote sites)

  5. user login and group accounts

  6. standardised company email & calendar (via the built-in MS Exchange application)

  7. access to company email from anywhere on the Internet (Outlook web access)

  8. logical company file directory structure, and security-restricted shared areas

  9. tailored user login scripts (e.g. for individual network drive access rights)

  10. shared network printing (if required)

  11. shared network online fax facility (if required)

  12. company intranet website

  13. tailored, automatically generated system reports

  14. centralised Trend Client/Server Messaging antivirus/antispam solution (optional)

  15. system and company data backup routines

  16. end-user training

  17. system documentation

Fort those SMEs who only require secure file/print services locally (e.g. email is hosted via cloud or 3rd party), then the new Microsoft SBS2011 Essentials product may be a good fit as a replacement for existing legacy windows server technology:
